Off to Florida

It’s April and it’s freezing. It’s snowing. It’s depressing. And I can’t wait for Friday when I go to FLORIDA!!!!! Can you tell I’m looking forward to it? I want warmth! Actually the week is going to be very busy and I’ll potentially be inside for most of it - A full day new play workshop on the east side of the state and then off to the west side of the state for another two day workshop and then off to the Florida State Thespian Festival. A lot of traveling but also a lot of fun.

I’m really looking forward to seeing Emotional Baggage at Florida State. It’s the play that I’ve seen the most in production.  It’s interesting to see the choices that directors make; there’s a lot of leeway to be creative with the script. It was a great challenge to write for me, because the play has no dialogue; it’s action only. It took some trial and error to figure out how to create a script language to adequately map that out. I’m still amazed that the piece works both in theory and in practice! It’s not always the case…..
